Summary:  Did you know that chronic pain and illness affect more people than cancer, heart disease, and diabetes combined? According to the American Academy of Pain Medicine, that’s almost one-third of the population, or 100 million people in the United States alone! The physical elements of pain and illness co-encode in the brain with psychological trauma.  Processing of the traumatic encoding can lead to minimized or alleviated symptoms.

Additionally, physical, mental, and emotional health are all interconnected and impact one another. The cortisol levels triggered by stress significantly increase when dealing with a chronic condition, which impacts our client’s ability to heal. Furthermore, chronic conditions may make the entire nervous system more sensitive. Our brain is programmed to associate pain with danger. When we experience prolonged physical pain, the brain will frequently encode the experience as a traumatic experience. Understanding these links and intentionally targeting them in treatment empowers new healing to occur through the use of trauma informed, neuroscience based, and resiliency focused tools and techniques.

Come learn how to support the brain and body in fundamentally changing their relationship with pain and illness. Through altering how we think about physical pain we can impact our experience of it, including its intensity. Whether an acute encoding of pain or a gradual and chronic developing sense of living with pain and illness, including the Havening Techniques into an overarching treatment plan for pain management, and even pain healing, welcomes in new opportunities for empowered healing with neuroscience. Neuroscience has helped us develop techniques to rapidly and effectively build the coping skills necessary to thrive while managing the symptoms of chronic pain and illness. It’s time for better living and empowered healing with the Havening Techniques!
